How to convert PNG to JPG

  1. Drop your PNG files into the box above (or click Choose files).
  2. JPG is already selected. Adjust the Quality if you like: 85–92% looks identical to the original for photos.
  3. If your PNGs have transparent areas, pick the background colour that will fill them (white by default).
  4. Click Convert and download each JPG, or all of them as a ZIP.

Why convert PNG to JPG?

PNG is lossless, which is perfect for logos and screenshots but wasteful for photographs: a photo saved as PNG is often 3 to 10 times larger than the same photo as a good-quality JPG. Converting to JPG makes photos easier to email, upload to forms with size limits and publish on websites, and JPG opens in absolutely every app and device.

What happens to transparency?

JPG can’t store transparency. Transparent pixels are filled with the background colour you choose, and semi-transparent edges are blended smoothly with it, so logos keep clean edges. If you need to keep the transparency, convert to WebP instead, or keep the PNG.

Tip: screenshots, text and flat graphics often look better as PNG — JPG can add faint artefacts around sharp edges. For those, compressing the PNG with our image compressor may be the better option.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert PNG to JPG for free?
Drop your PNG images into the tool above and click Convert. It’s free, works in your browser and needs no account.
Does converting PNG to JPG reduce quality?
JPG uses lossy compression, but at 85–92% quality the difference is invisible in photos. Sharp text and flat graphics may show slight artefacts — keep those as PNG.
Can I convert many PNG files to JPG at once?
Yes. Add as many PNGs as you want; they are converted together and you can download them as a ZIP.
What colour replaces the transparent background?
White by default, but you can choose any colour before converting.
