How to add a watermark to photos
- Add your photos — drag them into the box above, choose them from your device or paste a screenshot. JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and AVIF are supported.
- Write your watermark — for example © 2026 Your Name or your Instagram handle. Pick a font and color; enable Shadow or Outline so it stays readable on both light and dark areas. Prefer your logo? Switch to Image / logo.
- Place it — choose a preset (bottom-right is the classic photographer’s choice), drag it directly on the preview, or enter an exact percentage or pixel offset.
- Download — export in the original format or convert to JPG, PNG or WebP, optionally resized for the web.
Add a watermark to JPG, PNG and WebP
JPG: the most common photo format. Keep the quality at 90% or higher and the watermark won’t introduce visible compression. PNG: lossless and supports transparency — if your image has a transparent background, it is preserved. WebP: smaller files for websites with the same visual quality. You can keep each file’s original format or convert the whole batch to one format in the Output section.
Tips for watermarking photography
- Size relative to the photo: the watermark size is a percentage of the image width, so photos with different resolutions all get a proportional watermark.
- Opacity: 30–50% for portfolios and social media; 60%+ for client proofs.
- Placement: corner marks give credit; a centred or tiled watermark over the subject actually protects the image.
- Privacy bonus: exported images don’t keep the original EXIF metadata, so GPS location and camera serial numbers are removed.
Why use a browser tool instead of an app?
Editing software like Photoshop or Lightroom can add watermarks, but it takes setup time and usually a paid subscription. Most “free” online watermark sites upload your photos to their servers. WatermarkOn does neither: open the page, drop your photos, download. Everything happens on your own computer or phone, so it works on Windows, macOS, Linux, iPhone and Android — and we never see, upload or store your pictures.
