How to compress an image
- Add your images — drop them into the box above, pick them from your device or paste a screenshot. You can add as many as you want.
- Choose the compression — Balanced (75%) is the sweet spot for most photos. Need an exact size, for example for a form that only accepts files under 100 KB? Switch to Target size.
- Compare — drag the slider on the preview to compare the original and the compressed version, and use Zoom 100% to check the fine details.
- Download each image or all of them as a ZIP.
Compress JPG, PNG and WebP: what happens to each format
- JPG: re-encoded at the quality you choose. Between 70% and 80% the file usually shrinks by 50–80% with no difference you can see at normal size.
- PNG: we reduce the number of colours to a smart palette of up to 256 (the same technique used by popular PNG compressors) and keep transparency. Screenshots, logos and illustrations often get 60–80% lighter. At 95–100% quality the PNG is kept lossless.
- WebP: the modern format for the web. Converting a JPG or PNG to WebP usually saves another 25–35% at the same visual quality, and it keeps transparency.
- AVIF: available when your browser can encode it — even smaller files, ideal for websites.
Choose Smallest file (automatic) and the tool tries several formats for each image and keeps the lightest one.
Compress an image to 100 KB, 200 KB or any size
Many online forms, job portals and government websites only accept photos under a certain size. Select Target size, type the limit in KB (or use the 50 KB, 100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB and 1 MB shortcuts) and the tool automatically finds the highest quality that fits. If an image is very large, also choose a smaller Resize value — fewer pixels make small targets easy to reach with good quality.
Why compress your images?
- Faster websites: images are usually the heaviest part of a page. Lighter images improve loading time and Core Web Vitals, which also helps SEO.
- Email and messaging: send photos without hitting attachment limits.
- Uploads and forms: meet the maximum size of portals and applications.
- Storage: save space on your phone, computer or cloud.

Private by design: your images are never uploaded
Most online compressors upload your photos to their servers. This one doesn’t: the compression runs in your own browser, on your device, so your images never travel over the internet and we never see or store them. As a bonus, EXIF metadata such as GPS location and camera details are removed from the compressed files.
